iTouch, uTouch, every1Touch
The iPod Touch is like an iPhone without the phone. In essence it’s a PDA combined with an iPod for downloading podcasts, music, and video. Many of the iTunes Store apps also are available for the iTouch to expand functionality.

Another Touch ... but smarter ...
HP Touchsmart PC, this is a visually stunning personal computer that has several aesthetically pleasing, productivity-enhancing features. It is a CPU and monitor in one. As the name suggests, you can navigate by touching the screen if you wish. And it has a unique way of presenting applications, with fanned-out and scrolling displays of its software applications and media.

Flipping cool!
Flip HD Mino Video Camera, everyone from the New York Times to our very own Pacmee CEO is “flipping” over the Flip. Mini notebook computer, bloggers have discovered the joy of not lugging around a laptop that weighs seven pounds. It’ll be a two-stage process. A carrier craft, perhaps a B-52 or similar, will power the lander to the upper atmosphere. The landing craft, probably Boeing’s X-51A currently in testing, will break away, fire up its scramjet engines and cruise at Mach 7 to its destination.

Hawtness ... too bad it's only a render
According to Eurogamer, sources close to Sony say that sometime in the future, a new PlayStation Portable will be released. While there’s been no official word, the game site is reporting that there could be an update to the current PSP (which might be called the PSP 4000), and in the not-too-distant future (2010 or 2011),

It's ok, Malaysians never had it ...
Apple has just issued a press release stating that this coming MacWorld in January will be its last, and Steve Jobs won’t be on hand to say goodbye. Instead, Phil Schiller will be heading up the proceedings, thus marking a quiet end to a conference that’s been the launching point of some of the most important pieces of consumer tech in recent memory.

Everyone likes thin nowadays ... why?
The Neoi 906E, at least in the renders, is an exceedingly thin GSM / GPRS handset with a QWERTY keyboard, though beyond that, it’s all pretty unimpressive and run of the mill. It’s got an MP3 player, a camera, a microSD slot, plus some shortcut keys on the upper right of the phone, but details about its actual specs are a bit sparse.

A company called Holosonics developed the Audio Spotlight system, which uses tiny speakers to focus sound into a very narrow beam. Ultrasonic frequencies are too high for the human ear to hear, but as the sound travels from the Audio Spotlight system’s speakers, air distorts the sound and makes it audible. It’s perfect for in-store advertising, but you’d have to be standing in the right place to hear it.

Cyberwar
Imagine a war fought completely by computer. No, we’re not talking about a scene out of the movie WarGames, we’re talking an all-out attack on a nation’s electronic infrastructure. What’s that, you may ask? Those are the systems that control emergency response services, banks and other electronic commerce, the systems that run the electrical grid, water and fuel pipeline controls, communications networks, and oh, yeah: defense weaponry. A well-executed attack could cause serious disruption and open the populace up to physical threats.

The Technological Singularity
Vernor Vinge, a math professor at San Diego State University, proposed what he calls the singularity — a time at which computer networks may become self-aware through advanced AI, and interfaces between people and computers help humankind evolve. Biological advancements may become so sophisticated that doctors can even engineer human intelligence. There is a possibility, however, that AI might allow machines to take over the world.

Leading the spot for the top 5 mobile phones of 2008 is none other than the Nokia N96.
“It’s design is amazing, being a graphic designer, that means a lot to me! GPS software could be better… the way it breathes is amazing
”

The Samsung Tocco, not to be mistaken for a Taco
Second, Samsung F480 Tocco
“The full touch screen is really easy to use and the screen is easy to read and large”

The Storm, who came up with the name?
Third, Blackberry Storm,
This device is a real rival to the dominance of the iPhone. The “clickable” touch screen is a new and exciting development, but arguably this feature will be the one that decides it success. The applications and browsing are very good, as one would expect from a Blackberry, but the Storm does not have Wi-Fi, which could seriously dent its credibility in the Smartphone market. It seems that RIM is targeting consumers and business users with this application packed, slick mobile.

Isn't this the one in the James Bond ad?
Fourth, Sony Ericsson C902
“Camera qualities are excellent and far better than some digital cameras about and saves carrying your phone and a carmera around with you, same for the music walkman its fabulous and saves carrying around an iPod.”

Another WinMo phone
Fifth, Samsung Omnia
“Great phone with excellent features. This phone is great for watching movies on the go or listening to your favourite MP3’s, GPS built in – get yourself satnav software and this is a great feature on a phone, plus it works a treat. People complain about the battery life, and yes this could be better. But when you consider this phone comes with such a large screen and the backlights then I can live with charging it daily as I would expect a screen of this size to use more juice than my small screened SE W810i.”

Yahoo! is rife with projects that have been started, with great fanfare, only to die quietly months, sometimes years, later. Rank and file employees don’t deny it: “They wasted a lot of money on projects that have been scrapped,” one engineer said of the company’s management.

You got steamrolled!

Yahoo! had the chance to buy Google in 2002. Then-Chief Executive Terry Semel reportedly balked at the $5 billion price after months of negotiation. In retrospect, that was clearly a mistake.

Hiring Terry Semel
Another commonly cited mistake: hiring former Warner Bros, studio honcho Terry Semel as chief executive. Yahoo! stumbled in the wake of the tech bust early in the decade. It brought in Semel to turn things around. In retrospect, however, Semel was just riding a powerful rebound that other managers, such as the boys at Google, were playing far more skillfully. Semel declined to buy Google; at the same time, he funded a push into media that has largely foundered.

Click click.
Failing to Click With DoubleClick
Another deal Yahoo! missed out on was DoubleClick. The advertising network specialized in the display ads that had long been Yahoo!’s strength as it struggled to hold back a surging Google. But when Yahoo! didn’t move quick enough to purchase the ad network, Google pounced, helping to close the gap.

Not Bonding With Ballmer
Perhaps Yahoo!’s biggest bonehead maneuver was failing to deal with Microsoft’s acquisition offer quickly and cleanly. As a result, the drama dragged on for months, sapping Yahoo!’s energy and opening the door to Carl Icahn, the aggressive corporate raider who grabbed three seats on Yahoo!’s board in August. The move undoubtedly led to Yang’s ouster this week.

Tequila brings the bling
Tequila may be just another drink for some of us, but to a team of scientists in Mexico their country’s native alcohol turned out to be a gem; a diamond, to be precise. Javier Morales, Luis Apátiga and Victor Castaño at the National Autonomous University of Mexico made the alchemist-worthy discovery while experimenting turning various organic solutions, such as acetone and ethanol, into diamonds!

Just don't walk into a lake
Can’t stand your noisy neighbours? How about taking your house for a walk? Houses are normally fairly stationary objects, and that’s not considered a bad thing. But innovation never stands still, and a new prototype house that can walk on six legs has been built . The house is ten feet high, powered by solar panels, and is outfitted with a kitchen, toilet, bed, and wood stove. Does it float?

Facebook, mighty conqueror!
Social-networking giant Facebook is continuing to grow like mad. In fact, the company grew its active membership total from 90 million users in early July to 120 million now, according to Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer. While speaking at Salesforce.com’s Dreamforce conference, Sandberg also noted, “We got more (members) in the last three months than in the first three years of our existence.” There’s 6.7 billion people on this world, that’s almost 2% of the population having a Facebook account!!

Only thing missing, are laser guns ...
Some clever modder has turned his iPhone into a robot. This clever iPhone robot was made using an Arduino CPU board and development environment, a TA7291P motor and it is powered via 4 x AA batteries. Now, all that is missing are laser guns.

Now, you don't have to type!
Those natty guys over at SymbianV3.com have posted an application for Nokia mobiles, which effectively turns them into an optical character recognition scanner via its camera.

Let's hope there isn't any leak somewhere
Here’s something you don’t see every day: a town built in the middle of a lake. Not on an island, but actually below water level. It’s the ancient city of Seuthopolis, in Bulgaria, which was discovered in 1948. Six years later, a dam was destroyed and it was covered in water, ending up at the bottom of a huge lake. Now, the city is being unearthed via the most insane architectural project ever.

Now, everyone can break into your home
In this era that we live in where satellites can zoom in on objects as small as a license plate, it doesn’t seem unreal that scientists at the University of California are working on a technology that will allow the owners of this software duplicate a set of keys without being in physical possession of them.

So, are you a floppy or a USB drive?
Remember the good old days of the floppy disk? Here’s one USB drive shaped like an floppy disk, great for those wanting to take a trip down memory lane.

Happy berries, the legal kind
Miracle Fruits (sometimes called Miracle Berries) have been a secret wonder of the world for centuries. Though they were first documented by a French dude in 1725, they’d been consumed for many generations prior. They were eaten before meals to make the meals taste better. “How?” you ask. By making sour and bitter foods taste sweet. “But how?” you scream. The truth is, science doesn’t completely know (it has something to do with the protein miraculin that bonds to your taste buds, but the exact cause is still a mystery). But the berries work, and it’s a miracle.
